Is Bethany a religious organization? The name Bethany was chosen by our founders shortly after the organization started in 1899 because Bethany was a place where Jesus Christ went as a place of refuge and rest. Although the name "Bethany" has religious connotations for Christians, we are not associated with any religious organization. Are you part of a larger organization? Bethany for Children & Families is an independent; Quad City community based social service organization. We have offices in Moline, Carbon Cliff, and Kewanee, Illinois, and in Davenport, Clinton, Muscatine, and Maquoketa, Iowa. What services does Bethany for Children & Families offer? We offer services in the areas of adoption services; foster care services, child welfare services, family services, education services and community services in Scott County of Iowa and Rock Island County of Illinois. Our services are described in more detail in the Programs section of our web site's home page. How many children live with Bethany for Children & Families? Bethany for Children & Families no longer provides residentail services; rather we provide a wide variety of community-based social services. We do not have any children living with us. Our resdiential home closed in 1995. Currently we provide our services in client's homes, in our offices, or in community settings such as schools. How are your services monitored? Our services are monitored in a number of ways. We undergo a rigorous evaluation every four years by the Council on Accreditation of Services. This process includes an extensive self-study and a visit and evaluation by a review team made up of individuals with expertise in child welfare. We must pass this process in order to be accredited and receive funds. Our services also are monitored through formal client surveys and feedback; contract review and compliance by contractual funding sources; by volunteers from the United Way of the Quad Cities Area; by the Rock Island County Mental Health (708) Board; and through regular internal utilization reviews. Licensure of the agency is in Illinois by DCFS and in Iowa by the Department of | |
